Rita - HR
I like that my job allows me to travel around to all our different regions and meet fundraisers and team leaders. This allows me to raise the profile of the HR department and the support we can offer. We also have a very diverse workforce which is always interesting.
The exciting challenge in my role is trying to find systems and processes to put in place which support our staff who may have Mental Health issues which they can sometimes be wary of sharing.
Inclusive, warm hearted, social
Jaime - HR
The people employed at HOME; only organisation I have been in that most, if not all, are friendly, approachable, and helpful.
A place where your many quirks are appreciated.
Not sure, we all support each other when asked or see if someone needs help.
Compassionate, friendly, family
Dario - Projects
Working with like-minded, down to earth, committed people who want to make a positive difference for the organisations we work with and their beneficiaries. What's not to like?
Working across a range of very different projects can be challenging but it's also what makes my role very interesting!
Unique, dynamic, family
Alecia - Client Services
I work with people who really care about what they do and the difference they make to the charities we work on behalf of. It is the people that make this place amazing and very hard to leave!
I find it challenging to constantly explain why face to face is so important to charities when everyone in this sector is constantly being scrutinised by the media.
Unique, ethical, human
Ben - Manchester
The people – both on the doors and the people that I work with. Having spent approximately a year team leading and fundraising I can say that some of the best conversations I've had in this job have been with potential (and now active) donors. Their stories can amaze you, re-inspire you, or even just help you re-assess your attitude when you're feeling a bit down. Knowing that I get to make a difference to people in my job is really satisfying. The team environment also helps, both on the doors and in the field.
Negative images of door to door work and also the negative connotations with charities. This applies to my work as a recruiter too, searching for new staff that are interested in making a difference but don't want to do it face-to-face or don't agree with how charities spend their money despite annually published accounts. This being said, as a company we still find people that want to make a difference, and we still have a history of over £600 million raised, so we're doing something right!
Ethical, different, life-changing
Chelsea - Glasgow
I love working with such a big mix of personalities, raising thousands of pounds for great charities, and the progression opportunities that are available.
Learning how to manage different types of people.
Ethical. Passionate. Supportive
The real chance to make a positive difference on so many levels. Also, working at HOME helped me with my confidence and enhanced my communication skills.
Dealing with people who have a jaded opinion of Fundraising because of negative articles that they have read in the press.
Warm, Friendly, Dedicated
Graeme - Glasgow
Development opportunities; I love that the company develops people both personally and professionally. Over the years, people from different backgrounds that wouldn’t necessarily get an opportunity elsewhere have carved a career for themselves at HOME.
I have learnt a lot of things about myself doing my job, some of them I like and some of them not so much; I find it great that my job enables me to work on my weaknesses though, and to develop my skills further.
Ethical, warm, life changing
Susan - Liverpool
The people I work with in my Liverpool office!
When we have lots of new starters there always is lots of admin to do.
Hardworking, family, fun
Sara - Client Services
I enjoy working at HOME and the people I work with as it feels like I’m part of an extended family. One of the best moments/feelings is when you have finished launching a brand new campaign.
Being close to the different causes and making a small difference to it. Being part of ensuring that we make the campaign a success and to ensure that the charity benefits from the partnership that they have with us as an agency.
The Fundraising world isn’t an easy one and there are lots of agencies out there that do it. However, if you want to progress both personally and professionally, and have fun on the way, then HOME is the number one place to be. After all, we are the biggest face to face agency in Europe!
